Police on manhunt after mutilated body was discovered at Kroonstad─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 13:00 Tue, 21 Sep 2021
The police in the Free State have launched a manhunt after an unknown mutilated body was found in Kroonstad.
According to the police’s provincial spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, a body of a male aged between 17 and 19 was found in a shallow grave at an open field between the Brentpark and Kroonstad Industrial area. Makhele says the body was found with an injury to the forehead and a cut wound on the stomach. He confirms the heart and genitals were removed. Makhele says weapons suspected to have been used - a sharp instrument and sticks - were found near the body. He says the body was exhumed yesterday while investigations reveal that the deceased might have been killed and buried on Saturday night. He appeals to anyone who might have information regarding the gruesome murder to come forward.
“Any person who might have valuable information may contact Lt Col Moremoholo at 082 372 1436 or call Crime Stop at 08600 10111, alternatively send information via MySAPS App for anonymous tip-off”.
The body was discovered by two men who were allegedly searching for firewood.
He confirms a case of murder has been opened and the deceased remains unknown at this stage.
