UFS student found dead after missing exam─── LUCKY NKUYANE 07:30 Thu, 23 Sep 2021
A student at the University of the Free State (UFS) was found dead in his room after he failed to show up for an exam on the Bloemfontein campus.
Police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, confirms that the 20-year-old Wonder Emmanuel Dlamini was found dead after he was reported absent by a worried friend. He says after the report by a friend to Student Affairs and the head of the residence, Dlamini was discovered on the floor next to his bed with blood in his nose.
Makhele says Dlamini's body was found on Wednesday morning and was declared dead on the scene.
OFM News previously reported that two students were shot and killed whilst two others were wounded during a shooting in Phuthaditjhaba, Qwaqwa.
Meanwhile, the University has released statements and expressed its deepest condolences after the incidents.
"It is alleged a friend became worried of Dlamini when he realised that the deceased did not pitch at the exam room to write his exam. The friend then informed Student Affairs and their residence head. They went to open the deceased's room, using the master key. Dlamini was found lying with his back on the floor next to his bed, with blood in his nose. The body was discovered between 08:00 and 09:00. His next of kin have been informed," Makhele adds.
