Free State Premier Sisi Ntombela has called on law enforcement agencies to leave no stone unturned following the brutal attack on students by criminals at the University of the Free State's Phuthaditjhaba campus.

OFM News earlier reported that the attack and fatal shooting of students at Botjhabela Village in Qwaqwa has placed safety and the state of student accommodation in the spotlight. Four gun-wielding men, disguised in masks, allegedly on Wednesday morning accosted and shot dead two students - one from the University of the Free State (UFS) and one from the local TVET College - at their place of residence yesterday morning.

The suspects allegedly shot at students after demanding money, laptops, and cellphones.

Another student has since also succumbed from his injuries. The UFS has also reported another student from Qwaqwa campus who was also shot passed away in hospital on Thursday.

In her statement, Ntombela says that the harshest punishment should be imposed on criminals after their prosecution and people should assist law enforcement agencies with information that may lead to their arrests.

"We call on our people to work closely with the police in providing any relevant information which can lead to the speedy arrest of these perpetrators. We must work hard to rid our communities of people who commit such heinous act," She adds.

Ntombela sent her heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and their loved ones.
