NC entrepreneurs unite against #unemployment─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 09:38 Fri, 24 Sep 2021
Small, medium and micro-enterprises (SMME) owners in the Northern Cape have been invited to be part of the the first POP Up Market at the Kimberley Diamond and Jewellery Centre to showcase their businesses.
One of the organisers, Danyal Van Niekerk, told OFM News the aim of the market, which is taking place on Heritage Day, today, is to create a platform for local businesses to showcase their products and penetrate the local diamond and jewellery sector.
With the province ranked amongst those plagued by high unemployment rates with more than 28% of the working population jobless, Van Niekerk says this serves as a platform to boost local entrepreneurs and grow the economy.
The market will allow exhibitors to sell their products and services and give members of the public an insight into the diamond and jewellery industry, as well as the productions processes involved.
Van Niekerk highlighted all Covid-19 regulations will be adhered to.
"Local SMMEs are still recovering from the Covid-19 pandemic impact and this will be an ideal event to market their capabilities and creativity," added the Northern Cape Tourism Authority.
