The Free State premier, Sisi Ntombela, has stated that the vaccination programme is thriving in the province.

According to the statement issued by Ntombela, the province administered vaccinations to almost a million people since vaccinations were rolled out. She said after the weekend, the province's vaccination figure was sitting at 958 232.

Ntombela and other Free State officials have hosted the Deputy President, David Mabuza, as part of the Vooma Campaign over the weekend.

Ntombela, however, raised concerns over the number of active cases in the province. She appealed to people to still adhere to Covid-19 protocols, which include sanitising, the wearing of masks, and observing social distance.

OFM News previously reported that Mabuza had kicked off the Vooma weekend in the Bojanala Platinum District in the North West on Friday.

Meanwhile, Free State Health spokesperson, Mondli Mvambi, told OFM News Mabuza and Ntombela were scheduled to visit the Universitas Academic Hospital and then head on over to the Pelonomi Tertiary Hospital to oversee vaccination efforts at the province’s two biggest hospitals. From there onwards, Mabuza was expected to join fellow ANC comrades, the newly appointed MEC of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta), Mxolisi Dukwana, and Free State Premier Sisi Ntombela on their extensive election programme as members of the ANC’s interim provincial committee (IPC). This included door-to-door visits and a community meeting in the Bochabela township.
