The South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA) is dealing with an application from Pfizer to start administering a third booster shot.
This is probably going to be targeting those who got their first Pfizer shots in May already. But is there a need for a third shot? The health department says while data is available on how effective booster shots are, it’s important for this decision to be made carefully. It’s also the priority of the department to get all unvaccinated people jabbed. SAHPRA hasn’t given a time frame on a when a decision will be made.
