Round 6 of the 2017 Varsity Netball season last night saw the Kovsies netball team stumble while the Pukke Netball strengthened their position on the log after the Potch side claimed a valuable away win.

The Pukke travelled to Port Elizabeth where they faced the Madibaz who were just not able to keep up with the ladies from Potchefstroom who claimed victory with 44 - 21.

The Kovsies in their turn had a tougher time on the court as they faced a strong Maties team in Stellenbosch that ultimately ended in the home side’s late charge securing them a 49-45 victory.

Despite the loss, the Kovsies remain in the 2nd position on the log and Captain Tanya Mostert says it’s far from over.

Mostert says "the result against Maties is not what we set out to achieve. We made a couple of crucial errors towards the end of the game that allowed the Maties to capitalise which ultimately cost us the game."

Next Monday marks the final group stage fixtures of the 2017 Varsity Netball competition that see a massive Kovsies vs Pukke derby at the Callie Human hall in Bloemfontein.
