Van Rensburg selected for Athletics World Cup─── MORGAN PIEK 14:51 Tue, 12 Jun 2018
The Free State 800m star, Rynhardt van Rensburg, has been named in the team which will be representing South Africa next month during the IAAF Athletics World Cup in London.
Van Rensburg and the long-jumper Lynique Beneke are the only Free State athletes named in team to compete at the meet.
Last week Van Rensburg, clocked 1:45.72 to finished 3rd in the Stockholm leg of the Diamond League.
Van Rensburg, told OFM Sport that all the hard work has paid off.
“It’s really good to make the team for this year’s World Cup in athletics, I think that it will be a great event.
“I’m very excited about it. It has been a rough year for us.
“It’s always great if you can pick yourself up again and reach that next level and perform.”
The 2018 Athletics World Cup in London takes place on 14 and 15 July.
