Wayde van Niekerk - Morgan Piek

The 400m world and Olympic champion, Wayde van Niekerk, is nearing a comeback to the sport after a year on the side-lines.

The world recorder holder, tore his ACL in October last year during a celebrity rugby match in Cape Town.

The 26-year-old sprinting superstar has undergone extensive rehabilitation in Doha after his injury.

His serious injury came as a major blow to Van Niekerk and Team South Africa as it ruled him out of the 2018 Commonwealth Games which was staged in Gold Coast, Australia.

After arriving on the international scene, Van Niekerk, has won just about everything there is to win, apart from a Commonwealth medal.

There were hopes that he would be able to compete during this weekends’ Grey College Invitational this weekend, however, he is not ready yet.

During the last week, Van Niekerk, has posted a lot of pictures on the social media of him and his coach, Ans Botha, doing track work in Bloemfontein.
