The Toyota Cheetahs have rung the changes for Saturday’s crunch Super Rugby match against the Jaguares in Buenos Aires.

Upfront the team has an entire new front-row with Danie Mienie, Elandré Huggett and Tom Botha starting. This sees the captain for the first three games, Torsten van Jaarsveld, being rested while Charles Marais and Aranos Coetzee will play off the bench.

Armandt Koster starts in the second-row alongside the experience Francois Uys, and Carl Wegner has been named on the bench.

Tier Schoeman will play off the bench as well, while the Springbok flank Oupa Mohoje, Henco Venter and Niell Jordaan form the backrow.

The scrumhalf Tian Meyer will captain the team this weekend and the Free State Cheetahs Currie Cup final hero, Niel Marias, earns his first start of the campaign at flyhalf.

Shaun Venter has recovered from his hamstring injury and travelled with the team, but will also do duty from the bench.

Clinton Swart has recovered from his knock against the Sunwolves and will patrol the midfield with Michael van der Spuy at outside centre.

This has seen Rayno Benjamin moving to the wing as cover for the injured Raymond Rhule. While Rhule plays on the left, Benjamin, will don the number 14 jersey in the place of Zee Mkhabela and Ruan van Rensburg start on the left.

Clayton Blommetjies will once again start in his usual role of fullback.

Meyer told OFM Sport that it will take an 80-minute performance on Saturday and a strong bench will be imperative.

“It will be nice to get some fresh legs out on the park to start the game, the guys will obviously relish the opportunity to run on with the starting jumper,” Meyer said from Argentina.

“The front-row has been working hard in the off-season as well, so it’s nice to see Danie, Huggy and Tom all getting a start and being rewarded for their hard work.

“I believe it’s going to take an 80-minute performance so the whole team is needed and it’s always nice to get a nice strong and experienced bench when they are needed.

“We really just need to focus on our game and improve on things we didn’t do so well last week. We weren’t happy with our performance so it’s nice to get a chance to make it right this week”.

Saturday evening’s match between the Jaguares and Cheetahs at the Estadio José Amalfitani in Buenos Aires kicks off at 21:40
