The weekend’s SuperSport Rugby Challenge sees two central South African derbies during round two of the competition.

The Toyota Free State XV will get their campaign underway when they host the Griffons in a curtain-raiser to the Super Rugby clash between the Toyota Cheetahs and the Crusaders.

Free State enjoyed a bye during the first round.

The Griffons in their turn will look to secure their first win after losing 29-17 to the Leopards in Welkom.

The Tafel Lager Griquas will be wanting to build on the momentum from their 29-8 win over the Sharks XV in Durban.

The Peacock Blues host the Leopards in Kimberley in a match which will be part of the Wildeklawer Festival.

The Griquas coach Peter Engeldow told OFM Sport that they don’t really focus on who the opposition is, but they want to set the record straight against the Leopards.

“The win is behind us now and we’re happy to be back in Kimberley with five points in the bag.

“Our focus is now very much on the Leopards.

“Especially after playing a weakened side after having qualified. They did a good job on us.

“So the guys are very excited to have a run out against them.

“It’s obviously made even more exciting by playing at the Wildeklawer Schools Festival.

“We hope that we can have a good performance and do well in front of a good crowd”.

The match between the Free State and Griffons at the Toyota Stadium on Saturday kicks off at 14:30, while at 15:00 the Griquas face the Leopards at High School Diamantveld.
