The Toyota Cheetahs flank, Oupa Mohoje, has been ruled out for this weekend's third Test between the Springboks and France in Johannesburg.

Mohoje sustained concussion during the 37-15 win over France in Durban, and will not be available for selection.

The team doctor, Konrad von Hagen, confirmed that Mohoje is the only casualty, but added that there is good news for the team.

“Obviously we’ll have the normal bumps and brushes after a tough game like we had over the weekend.

“We’re fortunate to only have to report on Oupa Mohoje who got concussed and as we all know had to leave the field in the first half.

“Oupa is still symptomatic and he will not be training at all this week and we will monitor his progress as we go along.

“On the good news front Jesse Kriel has done well and is in the final phase of his return to play protocol and if all goes to plan he will be available for selection to play this week.”

The centre, Kriel, sustained a concussion in the first Test with the Springboks who won 37-14 at Loftus Versfeld and was replaced by Lionel Mapoe in the number 13 jersey.

The coach, Allister Coetzee, says this gives him selection headaches heading into the final Test of the series.

“Obviously Lionel had a chance to perform this past week and he also performed.

“That’s why I keep on saying the beauty about the squad and team as we have it now it’s really very close.

“Whenever there’s an injury it’s never a nice thing, but the next stepping in delivers, so that’s a good position to be in.

“It is a headache for me, but I know that I will make the right decision.

Meanwhile, the Lions scrumhalf, Ross Cronjé, has also stated showing delayed symptoms of concussion and he has been ruled out for the Test.

Saturday’s third and final Test between the Springboks and Les Blues at Ellis Park kicks off at 17:00.
