The Guinness Pro14 resumes this week despite it being the final week of the current international window.

The Toyota Cheetahs are at home this week when they tackle the Scottish outfit, Edinburgh.

The side from the north have enjoyed a good running in the competition thus far with five wins from their eight games to occupy the 4th spot in Conference B.

The Cheetahs will look to return to winning ways after their disappointing 23-15 loss to Connacht in Ireland earlier this month.

The coach, Rory Duncan, told OFM Sport that it was important for the team to have some time away from rugby.

“It was nice to give the guys a bit of break now after having played some 14-15 weeks on the trot.

“The guys had ten off, we started again last week Wednesday and obviously gearing up for the next two games.

“Edinburgh is our focus now. They are a team that has done relatively well in the competition, so we expect a tough outing on Friday evening.”

The Cheetahs will be without the Pro14's leading scorer, Ernst Stapelberg, who is carrying a shoulder injury. The player is however training but not part taking in contact sessions.

Duncan does have the added selection headache with three fully fit fullbacks in the squad in the form of Clayton Blommetjies, AJ Coertzen and Crag Barry. If the teams training session is anything to go by, Blommetjies, will start, while the either of the other two players could be named on the bench.

Friday evening’s game at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein kicks off at 19:30.

Possible Toyota Cheetahs team – 15 Clayton Blommetjies, 14 Luther Obi, 13 William Small-Smith, 12 Nico Lee, 11 Makazole Mapimpi, 10 Fred Zeilinga, 9 Shaun Venter, 8 Junior Pokomela, 7 Rynier Bernardo, 6 Tier Schoeman, 5 Reniel Hugo, 4 Carl Wegner, 3 Aranos Coetzee, 2 Torsten van Jaarsveld, 1 Charles Marais.

Replacements – 16 Jacques du Toit / Joseph Dweba, 17 Ox Nche, 18 Tom Botha, 19 Dennis Visser, 20 Daniel Maartens, 21 Tian Meyer, 22 Niel Marais / Tertius Kruger, 23 Craig Barry / AJ Coertzen.
