The Welkom-based side will want to get their campaign back on track following back-to-back losses in the 2nd and 3rd rounds of the competition.

Oersond Gorgonzola's side stumbled against the Free State XV in round 2, going down to Daan Human's men by 31-56 at the HT Pelatona Projects Stadium in Welkom followed by another loss against the Sharks XV by 33-22 a week later.

Their two losses were followed by a bye last weekend and according to Griffons' captain Duan Pretorius who spoke to OFM Sport, the week off was just what they needed.

"Preparations for this week have been very good, I think the off week has done the guys some good."

"You could see that upon return to the training field that they looked excited and keen for the game this weekend," Pretorius said.

According to Pretorius, the Griquas pack will be looking to assert their dominance this weekend, but Pretorius believes they have planned for this.

"As always the Griquas are a very physical team, they will play physical and direct in order to create space for their backline so it will be important to stop their momentum," he told OFM Sport.

Saturday's match between the Griffons and the Griquas at the Sivos Rugby Stadium in Kathu kicks off at 15:00.
