The Springboks have reinforced their front row with the inclusion of overseas-based tighthead prop, Vincent Kock, who joins the team ahead of their final two rugby championship matches.
Koch, who plies his trade at Saracens in the English Premiership linked up with the Springboks over the weekend and is said to be in the selection mix for the remaining two tests against Australia and New Zealand.
Koch enters a squad where the number 3 jersey is already hotly contested, but according to the former Western Province and Stormers front rower, internal competition is a good problem to have.
"I think the group of tightheads we have at the moment is world class players and any coach of any team will love to have that problem."
"Its definitely a challenge but we're all mates and we just want the best for each other so I think we are going to push each other to the next level," Koch said.
The Boks and Australia battle it out at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium this weekend when the whistle blows for kick off at 17:05 on Saturday.
