Bloemfontein Celtic will be targeting back-to-back wins in the Premier Soccer League on Wednesday evening when they host the in-form Baroka FC at the Toyota Stadium.

This time around Phunya Sele Sele will be looking to break the ice at home.

The Celtic manager, John Maduka, told OFM Sport that it’s important to win home games.

“In this league it's very important to win your home games because the away games are not easy.

“It doesn't matter who we're playing against. When we know that it's Baroka, we know it's going to be tough.

“We believe that with the team we have and the way that we've started playing we've got a big chance to win the game. It's all up to us to take the game to Baroka”.

While it still very early in the season, there is a definite change in the mood in the camp after they narrowly avoided relegation last season.

A lot of this has to do with the fact that the team does have new a head coach in the form of Veselin Jelušic.

There is also a visible switch in the team's intensity and Maduka said this is due to the team not being threatened by relegation, because once you're in the red zone, you start playing to survive and not necessarily to win.

Maduka added that the players have bought into what Jelušic brings to the party and they cannot afford to be in the same position as last year.

“We do understand and know that it's not a good thing to be in that relegation zone. When you're down there you don't play your football and you don't enjoy whatever you're doing.

“When it comes to football the pressure is on the players, the pressure is on the management, the technical team, the supporters, it's on everyone."

In Wednesday night’s other games Maritzburg United host Kaizer Chiefs, AmaZulu are at home to Wits and Platinum Stars entertain Golden Arrows. All these matches kick-off at 19:30.
