The national football team, Bafana Bafana, still stand a chance of qualifying for the 2018 FIFA Football World Cup in Russia.

The coach, Stuart Baxter, announced his squad for the upcoming qualifier against Burkina Faso and it sees the return of Dino Ndlovu, while Reeve Frosler, Thami Mkhize, and Lebo Mothiba all receive first-time call-ups.

Bafana are currently at the bottom of Group D with three qualifiers remaining and Baxter says they will treat each of these matches as if it were a World Cup Final.

“We’ve got three games to play and it’s not mathematically impossible for us to get here.

“The coach would be derelict in his duties then he doesn’t think the team could manage it.

“If I was to sit here today and think no we’re going to struggle, then I may as well get down and walk out and go home.

“We have three games to play and we have three times 90 minutes plus to play, and we must put ourselves into a position where every one of these games is a world cup final for us.

“Because that is that it is to us.”

South Africa resume their qualifiers on 7 October against Burkina Faso at the FNB Stadium.
