A defeated Stuart Baxter and his Bafana Bafana side will this evening complete their failed attempt at World Cup qualification when they face Senegal in their 2018 qualification return leg in Dakar.
Any glimmer of qualification hope for the national side quickly faded to black when the Teranga Lions beat Bafana at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Friday night.
The match, which Bafana had no choice but to win if they were to keep qualification hopes alive, ended in 2-0 disappointment for Baxter and his men when an early Senegal goal followed by a Bafana own goal spoilt the party for a near capacity Peter Mokaba crowd.
The return leg which will kick off at 21:30 this evening at the Stade Leopold Senghor will be nothing more than a formality for both teams.
Coach Baxter, however, has insisted that there are no rubber games in the national team set-up and would select the best team for tonight’s fixture.
