Draw fest in mid-week round of PSL─── ADRIAN BOTHA 10:14 Thu, 23 Nov 2017
A mid-week round of Premier Soccer League fixtures, that can only be described as unamusing, did not make for the best viewing after 6 of the 7 games ended in a draw.
Last night’s PSL fixtures began in Bethlehem with a 18:00 kick-off between Free State Stars and Chippa United.
A late goal from Stars striker Edward Manqele put the home side ahead with just 6 minutes of regulation time remaining, but Chilli Boys defender James Okwuosa equalized just 2 minutes later to put the score at 1-1, which is how it ended.
The evening's other matches brought virtually no excitement, as AmaZulu and Kaizer Chiefs, Platinum Stars' match against Bloemfontein Celtic, and Polokwane City who took on Maritzburg United ended their ties with not a single attempt finding the back of the net.
On Tuesday, Cape Town City played to a 1-1 draw against log leaders Baroka FC while Orlando Pirates and Golden Arrows shared the spoils after it ended goalless at the Orlando stadium.
The only result of the round came courtesy of Mamelodi Sundowns who beat defending PSL champs Wits 2-0 at the Bidvest stadium.
The PSL faithful will be hoping for a better showing when another round of South African top flight football is contested this weekend.
