As it is their first ever Cup final, understandably, Maritzburg United have been labelled as the underdogs for tomorrow’s Nedbank Cup final against Free State Stars in Cape Town.

The Team of Choice will be contesting for silverware for the first time ever and according to head coach Fadlu Davids, embracing the underdog label is the first step in overcoming it.

"We have to be aware that Free State Stars are the club that has more cup pedigree than us, it is our first time, we have got to approach it like a normal match and know that we are the underdogs."

Within the United squad expected to make the trip to Cape Town, former Bloemfontein Celtic captain Bevan Fransman, as well as defender Siyanda Xulu, are the only players to have contested a cup final.

"It's a new experience for the players, a new experience for the club, a new experience for our fans and we have to keep them grounded to just approach it like a normal match," Davids added.

Ea La Koto in their turn have not had much cup final experience of late but whether that will have any effect on the outcome remains to be seen.

Kick off in this Nedbank Cup final which will be played at the Cape Town Stadium is at 19:00 on Saturday evening.
