After a woeful 2017/18 Premier Soccer League Season that included relegation to the National First Division, Platinum Stars have suffered the worst possible fate as it was announced yesterday that the club will be re-located as well as re-named.

The club is set to be re-branded as Cape Umoya United and will be re-located to the Western Cape Province capital of Cape Town.

The move of course sees an end to any and all professional football in the North West Province and making matters worse is that The Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg will now be a white elephant after the relocation.

Reports that Stars were going to move and be re-branded came as early as January this year following the clubs sale to a consortium that included coach Roger de Sa as a stakeholder.
