Harris advances at Aus Open, Anderson out─── MORGAN PIEK 14:26 Tue, 09 Feb 2021
South Africa's Lloyd Harris is through to the second round of the Australian Open being played in Melbourne, while the former Wimbledon and US Open finalist, Kevin Anderson, has been sent packing
Harris needed four sets this morning to advance by knocking out Denmark's Mikael Torpegaard with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 and 6-2 victory.
He next faces Australia's Alexi Popyrin who upset the 13th seeded David Goffin from Belgium.
Anderson in his turn was eliminated following a straight-sets 7-6, 7-5 and 6-3 defeat that hands of the 9th seeded Matteo Berrettini.
Anderson served 18 aces in the match, but could not find a way to break the Italian who also boasts with a big service game.
