Harris into quarters in Dubai─── MORGAN PIEK 08:32 Thu, 18 Mar 2021
South Africa's Lloyd Harris is into the quarter-finals of the Dubai Duty Free Championship being played in the United Arab Emirates.
The 24-year-old Harris advanced to the last eight following a 7-6 and 6-4 win over Serbia's Filip Krajinovic.
In the first set, both players broke each other's service game once, before the set went into a tiebreaker.
Harris has another tough assignment in the quarters, where he will face the former US Open finalist, Kei Nishikori of Japan.
Nishikori, in his turn, advanced with a hard-fought 6-4, 6-4 win over Aljaz Bedene of Slovenia.
On Tuesday, Harris caused quite a stir when he eliminated the top-seed and current US Open champion, Dominic Thiem, in straight sets.
A week prior he defeated his childhood hero, Stan Wawrinka, during the first round of the Qatar Masters in Doha.
