Wayde and Lucky into national 200m final─── MORGAN PIEK 14:24 Fri, 16 Apr 2021
The 400m world record holder, Wayde van Niekerk, is into the final of the 200m for men at the ASA Senior National Championships in Pretoria.
Van Niekerk clocked the fastest time in the semi-finals in 20.82 sec, to beat Anaso Jobodwana who ran 20.90 sec.
The 17-year-old Lucky Moleyane, who attends Grey College also qualified for the final by running 20.90 sec.
Van Niekerk says the meet is a confidence booster for the rest of the season.
“I'm moving in a positive direction and I can just use it as a confidence booster to take with me for the season.
“My goal is towards the European season and the Olympic Games.
“This is an amazing opportunity and stepping stone for me to get myself back on the track and two where I should be.”
The final will be run at 200m on Saturday night.
