Harris into Noventi Open quarters─── MORGAN PIEK 17:14 Thu, 17 Jun 2021
South Africa's Lloyd Harris has advanced to the quarter-finals of the Noventi Open being played in Halle, Germany.
Harris beat Slovakia's Lucas Lacko in straight sets to reached the quarter-finals of a grass court event for the first time in his career.
Harris breezed through the first set, but found the going a lot tougher in the second set, for a 6-3, 7-6 win.
Harris said he is learning to adapt to the grass courts.
“We've been playing well in the singles and doubles. Today was a really tough match and I am really happy to have gone through.
“I think I understand a little bit more of how I should play tactically and which shots work better for more on the grass courts.
“I'm just trying to play to my strengths with some very flat backhands, dictating with the forehand and obviously first serve percentages is really important out here.”
Harris will face the winner between Nikoloz Basilashvili and Arthur Rinderknech in the quarter-finals.
