The 21-year-old Nienaber will be making his debut at World Golf Championship event and he will have his coach from the Bloemfontein Golf Club, Quintin Williams, alongside him.

The other South Africans playing are Louis Oosthuizen and Garrick Higgo.

Nienaber told OFM Sport that it helps having Williams there.

“Having Quintin here is great. He has not been to America before so it's all new to him.

“We've worked together for a long time as well, so it's really nice to not have to pick up the phone with the time difference. It's nice knowing that he is here.

The 2021 Dimension Data Pro-Am champion added that the course is tough and one will have to work for birdies.

“Having seen the course, it is pretty interesting and it feels like it is a bit of a major setup.

“I've only played in one, but it is going to be tricky. It's a really good golf course with small greens.

“You're going to have to make birdies, it's not just going to come your way.

“I'm going to play the back nine against after this and get a good strategy and then it's matter of seeing what happens this week.”

The tournament features 48 of the top 50 players in the work as well as a handful of invited players. The other South Africans playing in Memphis week are Louis Oosthuizen and Nienaber's good friend, Garrick Higgo.

Nienaber will tee off from the 10th at 17:30 on Thursday afternoon.
