The Northern Cape Heat are upbeat ahead of their return to top-flight cricket next week when the CSA T20 Knockout gets underway with Pool A Kimberley.

The Heat will face Allan Kruger’s SWD first up, but it appears that the former Knights coach will not be with the team.

The Heat coach, Mark Charlton, told OFM Sport that they are confident as they start focusing on the start of the season.

“It's going to be tough and I do feel that we have a really strong pool.

“I feel that we could get the results out there. We are playing on our home field and that is an advantage.

“We are going to try and make that work for ourselves, but it is T20 cricket and anything can happen.

“I'm confident that we have done everything to be ready and we really are looking forward to getting onto the park and getting some results.”

The Heat will play in the Division 2 of the domestic season with a possibility of promotion to Division 1 after two years.

The Heat face SWD next Friday at 14:30 at the Diamond Oval.
