World Cup Proteas won't play in T20 Knockout | News Article
Diamond Oval - ICC

The CSA T20 Knockout has been dealt a blow just days before the tournament is set to get underway in Kimberley with the Pool A matches.

The tournament that will feature four pools and 16 teams from both the 1st and 2nd divisions as well as the South Africa U19 team gets the 2021/22 season underway.

In the latest development, none of the Proteas that will be playing in the ICC T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates and Oman from next month, will be competing in the tournament.

This is due to the national players partaking in a training camp ahead of the World Cup.

The T20 Knockout gets underway on Friday morning with Wester Province up against the Lions at 10:00 at the Diamond Oval.

At 14:30 on Friday afternoon, the Pool A hosts, the Northern Cape Heat take on the South Western Districts.

The next the tournament will move to Bloemfontein for the Pool B that will be hosted by the Itec Knights at the Mangaung Oval.
