The big serving South African, Kevin Anderson, is into the third round of the Indian Wells Masters after beating the 17th seeded Lorenzo Sonego of Italy in straight-sets.
Anderson made the most of his big service game to beat Sonego 7-6 and 7-6.
In the process Anderson serves 10 aces. Next, he will be up against Gael Monfils of France in the third round.
Meanwhile, South Africa's leading men's singles player, Lloyd Harris, will be put to the test this evening when he comes up against the 6th seeded Casper Ruud of Norway.
Ruud leads the head-to-head battle against the 24-year-old Harris 1-0 after they previously met in Winston-Salem in 2019.
In the doubles event, Lloyd Harris and his Argentine partner Diego Schwartzman, lost their doubles first-round match to the American pair of Sam Querrey and Steve Johnson 6-3, 6-7, 10-7.
