Lloyd Harris is into the second round of the European Open being played in Antwerp, Belgium.
The leading South African men's singles player advanced to the round of 16 of the ATP250 event by beating the local player, Zizou Bergs, in straight sets on Tuesday night.
The 7th seeded Harris served nine aces as he beat the 22-year-old Bergs, 7-6 and 6-3.
Harris will next face the 31-year-old Jan-Lennard Struff of Germany in the round of 16. Struff, in his turn, needed three sets to beat Spain's Albert Ramos-Vinolas 6-3, 3-6 and 6-3.
Should Harris beat Struff to reach the quarter-finals he will face the winner between the 4th seeded Roberto Bautista Agut of Spain and Marton Fucsovics of Hungary.
