The 23-time Grand Slam champion, Serena Williams of the USA, has reclaimed the number spot on the latest WTA rankings.

Her win at the Australian Open, and the former world number one Angelique Kerber’s shock 4th round exit, has seen Williams move back to the top.

Kerber moved down one place to second, while Karolina Pliskova has moved up two places to a career-high third.

The former number three, Aga Radwanska, is the biggest mover in the top 10 with the Polish player dropping down three places to sixth.

Despite her first round exit from the year’s first Grand Slam, Romania’s Simona Halep remains in fourth.

Dominika Cibulkova moved up one spot from sixth to complete the top 5.

In the men’s ATP rankings, Roger Federer’s 18th Grand Slam title has seen the 35-year-old break back into the top ten. The losing finalist, Rafael Nadal, moved just three spots to 6th.

WTA Top 10 - 1 Serena Williams (USA), 2 Angelique Kerber (GER), 3 Karolina Pliskova (CZE), 4 Simona Halep (ROM), 5 Dominica Cibulkova (SVK), 6 Aga Radwanska (POL), 7 Garbine Muguruza (ESP), 8 Svetlana Kuznetsova (RUS), 9 Madison Keys (USA), 10 Johanna Konta (GBR)
