Kimberley - The minor convicted of the murders of Deon, Christel and Marthella Steenkamp has been denied bail and will remain in custody until sentencing.
A seventeen-year-old boy was today convicted of murdering the Steenkamps on their farm Naauwhoek on 6 April 2012. He was also convicted of raping 14-year-old Marthella, as well as defeating the ends of justice.
Judge Frans Kgomo said he did not believe the interests of justice would be served by granting the minor bail. He did not elaborate on his reasons but earlier said he was horrified by a picture of the child with a firearm, which was taken while the boy was still on trial for the murders.

Kgomo refused the bail application and ordered that the boy be held at Kimberley Prison until his sentencing proceedings get underway on May 13.
Pre-sentencing reports will need to be completed prior to that date.
Supporters all hugged the boy before he was taken down into the holding cells before being transported to prison.
