Bloemfontein - Seventeen-year-old Niël Smith, who sustained burn wounds when a sub-station exploded in Bloemfontein this morning, is in a stable condition in the Pelonomi Hospital in the city.
Smith was with his elder brother Louis, when the accident happened this morning. Louis was replacing a concentrator at a sub-station. He drilled and because the power cannot be switched off, a loose wire was most probably the cause of the explosion.
A shocked Louis spoke to OFM News a short while ago while doctors attended to his brother.
He said Niël is doing fine despite the burn wounds to his face.
Niël is a learner at High School President Steyn in Bainsvlei.
