Three silver for SA in Luassane | News Article

It was a good night for South Africa during the Luassane leg of the Diamond League with three athletes winning silver medals.

Anaso Jobodwana, LJ van Zyl and Wenda Nel all produced silver medal performance on the day which saw Akkini Simbani equal Henrico Bruintjies national 100m record at the World University Games in South Korea.
 
South African 200m record holder Jobodwana stepped up a gear in the half-lap sprint to cross the line in second place behind Britain’s Zharnel Hughes with a time of 20.21 seconds.
 
South African 400m hurdles record holder Van Zyl surged towards the end of the race from the outside lane to run his second sub-49 second race of the season.
 
The United States’ Bershawn Jackson claimed first place in a time of 48.71 seconds with Van Zyl posting a time of 48.92 seconds.
 
In the women’s 400m hurdles Nel took silver clocking a time of 55.78 seconds.
