DA opens criminal case against municipal manager─── THANDI XABA 15:30 Wed, 20 Aug 2014
Bloemfontein - The DA in the Free State has opened a criminal case against the municipal manager of Masilonyana municipality for failure to comply with provisions under the National Water Act.
According to reports, raw
sewerage from the Brandfort sewerage plant is flowing into nearby fresh water
streams, contaminating water sources for use by the local population and
cattle.
The DA's George Michalakis says they opened a criminal case against
Sipho Mtakati for failure to manage the water resources.
In turn the party's James
Letuka will write to COGTA MEC Olly Mlamleli requesting the provincial
department to intervene and rectify the situation.
