'ARV shortages in North West being addressed at highest level' | News Article

Mahikeng - Shortages of ARVs in the North West province, particularly at the Mahikeng Provincial Hospital, have temporarily been addressed by overstocking on the drugs.

Provincial health spokesperson, Tebogo Lekgethwane, says there is a general short supply of different medicines across the country, not just in North West. This is due to problems being experienced with international suppliers of ARVs and penicillin in particular.

Lekgethwane says provincial health MEC Magome Masike was recently called to Pretoria along with other stakeholders to engage with Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi on solutions for the problem.
