Not enough incentives for whistle-blowers to come forward─── 12:10 Wed, 28 Jan 2015
Johannesburg - Deputy Public Protector Kevin Malunga says there are not enough incentives for people to expose corruption.
Malunga spoke at the launch of the Anti-Intimidation and Ethical Practices Forum in Johannesburg this morning.
Malunga said legislation such as the Protected Disclosures Act did not provide strong enough protection to encourage whistle-blowers.
He said whistle-blowers faced threats including harassment, discrimination, dismissal, disciplinary proceedings, risk to their lives and the lives of their families, and harm to their reputation.
He said the new forum is an important platform as it would give whistle-blowers the confidence that they were protected.
