60 municipalities' funds cut over unpaid electricity accounts─── 07:50 Wed, 01 Apr 2015
Cape Town - Sixty municipalities will no longer receive their equitable share of money for the next quarter because of their unpaid electricity accounts.
National Treasury has taken this bold and unprecedented step because municipalities owe Eskom a total of R4.5billion. The power utility says it cannot ignore this debt if it is expected to keep the lights on.
