Celtic need to overcome Chippa hurdle | News Article

Bloemfontein Celtic will go for an all-out win this evening when they face the 13th placed Chippa United in Port Elizabeth.

With just four games remaining in the Premier Soccer League this season for Phunya Sele Sele the side are targeting a top-four finish, and in order to do this they need to take all 12 points up on over.

Currently Clinton Larsen’s side are lying in 5th on 37 points with Ajax Cape Town, but have a game in hand.

Chippa will be a complex opponent especially playing them away and Celtic is cautiously approaching the game if Celtic CEO Khumbulani Konco’s comments are anything to go by “undermining them will be suicidal especially being coached by an experienced coach like Mich d’Avray.

“The reality is we are aiming for position four and that can only be achieved if we collect maximum points in every game we play.

After losing our previous game the technical team worked vigorously trying to rectify mistakes and we are confident about positive results,” Concluded Konco.

D'Avray is the former Technical Director of Celtic and departed the club earlier this season, along with former Phunya Sele Sele coach Ernst Middendorp, who it the meantime has been suspended by Chippa.

Wits are eight points clear of Celtic on 45 points and sit in fourth and will look to leapfrog Orlando Pirates this evening who are also on 45 points.

Gavin Hunts’ Students face a resurgent Free State Stars at Goble Park in Bethlehem this evening, with the QwaQwa outfit looking to move away from the relegation zone.

The match in the Eastern Free State kicks-off at 18:00, while at 19:30 the Chippa versus Celtic game at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium kicks-off.
