The Warriors continued their unbeaten run in the CSA T20 Challenge on the weekend with a nine-wicket drubbing of Western Province in Paarl to extend their winning streak to eight matches.

The Lions in turn also claimed a nine-wicket win against the Paarl Rocks as they capped off the first double-heat at Boland Park in Paarl.

Province had a bat first against the Warriors and scored 142/7 in their allotted 20-overs with George Linde top-scoring with 30, while Edward Moore scored 23 and Wayne Parnell scored 22 not out down the order.

The former Knights seamer, Nealan van Heerden, was the pick of the Warriors bowlers with 2/25 in his 4-overs, while Siya Simetu took 1/24.

In reply, the Warriors captain Matthew Breetzke scored 62 off 48 balls, and the former Knights and Free State seamer, Beyers Swanepoel, scored 47 off 20 as the target was chased down in just 16.3 overs.

In the second match on the day at Boland Park, the relegation-threatened Rocks were restricted to 116/8 in their 20 overs. The former Knights allrounder, Ferisco Adams, scored 37-runs, while Michael Copeland scored 17.

Nqabayomzi Peter was brilliant with the ball for the Lions with 3/14 in his four overs, and Bjorn Fortuin took 2/15 in his complement of overs.

The Proteas batter and former Knight, Reeza Hendricks, scored 53 not out and Evan Jones, who previously played for the Northern Cape Heat scored an unbeaten 43 as the Lions chased down the target in 17.2 overs with just one wicket lost.

On Monday, there will be a second double-header to cap off the Easter weekend, and this will be played in Potchefstroom.

At 10:00, it’s KZN derby at the JB Marks Oval with 7th placed Tuskers up against the 4th placed Dolphins, while at 14:00 the North West Dragons will be in action against the defending champions, the Titans.
