The North West Dragons claimed a big win in Potchefstroom by beating Western Province by 11-runs on Friday night in the CSA T20 Challenge.
The North West Dragons claimed a big win in Potchefstroom by beating Western Province by 11-runs on Friday night in the CSA T20 Challenge.
The Dragons needed the win, which was their third of the campaign, in order to keep their chances alive of reaching the semi-finals of the competition.
The Dragons had a bat first at the JB Marks Oval and managed to scored 155/8 in their allotted 20-overs.
The Proteas batter, Raynard van Tonder, told scored for the Dragons with 39 not out, while the in-form Rubin Hermann scored 30-runs.
Kyle Simmonds was the pick of the Province bowlers with 2/22 in this 4-overs, while Mthiwekhaya Nabe took 2/25.
Upfront, Edward Moore, scored 47-runs for Province in their chase, while Valentine Kitime scored 33 and the SA U19 captain, Juan James, scored 29 as the visitors from the Mother City were restricted to 144/6 in their 20-overs.
The Dragons are still in contention to reach the playoffs, but it is imperative that they back this win up with another victory on Sunday when they face the second placed Lions at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.
