“I'm not too sure where I'm heading as yet, but I'll know in the next week or so. There is a lot to look forward to and I'm leaving the North West in a much better place than I found three years ago, and things are heading in the right direction.”

The North West Dragons capped off their 2023/24 season on Sunday with a win against the Paarl Rocks at Boland Park, and for the captain this was also the end of his spell at the team.

The Dragons made two wins from two on the weekend after beating the Warriors by 6-wickets on Friday in Potchefstroom, while yesterday they beat the Rocks by 6-wickets as well, but they weren’t unable to secure a spot in the semi-finals.

The defending champions, the Titans six-wicket win against the Western Province with 40-balls to spare ensured that they were able to claim the last spot in the semi-finals.

Sunday’s game was also the last for the team by their captain and Proteas allrounder, Senuran Muthusamy.

Muthusamy told OFM Sport after three seasons at the Dragons his job is done and he will know shortly where he will be heading to.

“On a personal note, ja, I'm leaving the North West Dragons, so I'm looking forward to the next chapter in my career,” said the Protea.

There have been suggestions that Muthusamy may well be joining Aaron Phangiso at the Knights. Phangiso is the first confirmed players to come to Bloemfontein, while the Proteas seamer, Duanne Olivier, has also been linked with possible return to his former team. In addition, Johan van Dyk of the Northern Cape Heat is also said to be returning.

The Knights are in the process of contracting as they are heading back up to Division 1 as from the 2024/25 season. Muthusamy is a proven match-winner and the experience and leadership he brings can only add value to the Free State if he does link up with the Knights.
