EXCLUSIVE: Granny (83) denies being abused after viral video─── CATHY DLODLO 15:42 Fri, 13 Jan 2017
Bloemfontein - The 83-year-old Bloemfontein granny, featured in the so-called “shock video” on the internet, has denied that she is being abused.
The video contains footage and sound - not suitable for sensitive viewers - that show how her son, Johan Scholtz, is verbally abusing her.
He threatens to murder her and slaps away the oxygen mask of a sick and frail looking Henna Scholtz.
But in an exclusive interview with OFM News she denied that her son is abusing her and said the incident was taken out of context.
"It is the biggest crap. My son and I always have our disagreements like any mom and her son. But I am shocked that you would pick up such crap and run with it. There are a lot of other issues you should rather publish instead of this," she said.
Granny Scholtz also alleged that the producer of the video did not have her interest at heart and sent the video to the media.
OFM News spoke to the videographer, Francoise Viljoen, former fiancé of Johan, who denied these allegations. She, however, admitted that it was her voice in a voice note about the video.
"Listen, whoever sent the video (to Huisgenoot) – it was not me. I wanted to make money out of it. So it’s a shame - someone obviously beat me to it. Many people received this video. Sick? Maybe, but maybe you're even more sick."
Viljoen says the voice note was meant sarcastically. She said she made the video without Johan’s knowledge as she was worried about granny Scholtz’s welfare.
When contacted for comment, Johan said he is ashamed and feels terrible about what he did.
He said he was provoked and then filmed. Viljoen denied this and said she tried to get social workers to look into the situation.
