Mahikeng - Officials from the North West Education Department who were fingered in the national report on the so called jobs-for-sale scandal could be charged soon.
Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga appointed a task team last year to investigate media reports about the selling of posts in education departments in several provinces. Officials in North West were named in the report.
Motshekga said – in a written answer to a question in Parliament – that her department has advised the North West Education Department to institute legal action against the implicated individuals. She said the provincial government has also been asked to investigate the possible appointment of officials who did not meet the requirements for the positions.
The HOD has been advised to implement the recommendations of the report.
