Today, 41 years ago, Christian Institute protests against travel restrictions─── 10:54 Mon, 12 Dec 2016
The Christian Institute of Southern Africa (CI) appealed to Prime Minister John Vorster, asking him to reconsider the withdrawal of the confiscation of the passports of six of its leaders, including that of Beyers Naudé.
Naudé was refused a passport to travel to London to address the Royal Institute of International Affairs.
Naudé founded the Christian Institute in 1963 with the aim of fostering reconciliation through interracial dialogue, research, and publications
From 1977 to 1984 the South African government "banned" Naudé — a form of house arrest with severe restrictions on his movements and interactions.
