The 2023 Formula 1 World Champion, Max Verstappen, signed off his season of utter domination with a win at the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Sunday.

The Dutch driver won the Grand Prix for a record 19th win on the season, while he also finished with a record 575 points, as well as most consecutive wins, most podium finishes and a staggering 1000 laps led.

Verstappen is officially a three-time World Champion after winning the driver’s champions for the past three years in a row.

Charles Leclerc of Ferrari took second in Abu Dhabi while George Russell of Mercedes rounded off the podium in third.

Speaking after his win, Verstappen, said he was incredibly proud of that they were able to manage as a team and he believes it will be very difficult to emulate this feat.

“An incredible season. It was a bit emotional on the in lap, the last time I was sitting in the car that has, of course, given me a lot,” said Verstappen.

“I’m very proud to win here also at the last race. I have to say a big thank you to Red Bull, it’s just been an incredible year.

“It will be hard to do something similar again, but we definitely enjoyed this year.”

Verstappen's Red Bull teammate, Sergio Perez, finished the season in second overall for a first Red Bull one-two, while Lewis Hamilton finished in third overall. For Hamilton it, who has one the driver’s championship seven times, it was second successive season in which he was unable to claim a single victory.
