Over the past two centuries, the town has grown from a mission station to an agricultural town and tourism destination. Philippolis200 will be celebrated all year long with a diverse array of activities, such as the Western Mounted Games, a 1000km horse cart expedition, and an Octoberfest.

OFM will broadcast from the town on Saturday, 7 October 2023, with OFM Pop Up Radio from 08:00 to 12:00 and an OFM Outside Broadcast from 12:00 to 16:00.

Many South African greats have come from this town, the likes of actress Brümilda van Rensburg and Springbok rugby player Adriaan Strauss. The Philippolis200 logo incorporates carefully considered symbolism, including a matted house – to symbolise the early indigenous residents (the San, Giqua, Khoi, Sotho and Xhosa), the church building – representing the mission church and African and English residents after 1861; the path – which symbolises the road between the Cape Colony and the Free State Republic; the fireworks – to signify pride in 200 years of community development; and the star – symbolising the beautiful night canopy above Philippolis.
