The Toyota Cheetahs will be departing for Harare this morning where they will tackle the Bulls in their first of two official Super Rugby warm-up matches.

The side named their starting XV for the clash and coach Franco Smith opted to deploy the younger and inexperienced players first-up.

Reniel Hugo, who is the son of former Springbok lock and Western Province stalwart, Niel Hugo, will captain the side while former Griquas scrumhalf, Tian Meyer, will be his vice-captain.

Smith has, however, named a strong bench with the more senior players, including the season captain, Francois Venter.

Smith told OFM Sport that they’ve done all the hard work, now they can’t wait to get onto the park.

“We can’t wait to get out on the field now and start playing games so that we can go to our next level of preparation and where we can rectify mistakes that often happen during games.

“I think we’ve done a good job in preparing the guys for the first two warm-up games and hopefully we’ll see some of the work come through.

“Like I mentioned, it’s a start and I don’t expect fireworks from the start.”

Saturday’s game kicks off at 15:00.
