Stellenbosch FC is through to the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup after a solid 4-0 victory over SuperSport United at the Danie Craven Stadium in Stellenbosch.

The home side scored their first goal after just seven minutes courtesy of Anicet Oura.  The first half was by no means a walk in the park for Stellies, with SuperSport putting them under huge pressure.  The hosts didn’t crack though and headed into the break at 1-0.

Stellies came out guns blazing in the second half and Devin Titus quickly scored their second goal in the 46th minute.  Just six minutes later Andre de Jong guided the ball into the back of the net after a clinical transitional move in the middle of the park. Their fourth goal came soon after the hour mark with Iqraam Rayners finishing from a tight angle inside the goal area.

De Jong claimed his second Man of the Match award thanks to a brilliant performance in the field.

In the other quarterfinal match, Orland Pirates had to fight AmaZulu tooth and nail to come out on top with 4 goals to 2 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

It was AmaZulu who scored first.  Hendrick Ekstein broke the deadlock in the 30th minute and scored goal of the competition.  A penalty by Patrick Maswanganyi in the 45th minute ended the first half at 1-1.  The visitor scored the first goal of the second half when Kabelo Dlamini scored from a free kick just outside the box.  Their lead was short-lived, however, thanks to a goal from Tariq Fielies.

Pirates stayed the course and Makhehlene Makhaula scored after getting onto Monnapule Saleng’s header. They finished the job in stoppage time with another goal by Maswangwani to seal the deal.
