The world number one Carlos Alcaraz and the former world number, Daniil Medvedev, are both through to the semi-finals of Wimbledon for the first time.
On Wednesday night Alcaraz beat Holger Rune of Denmark in straight-sets to reach the last four of the grass court Grand Slam.
The 20-year-old Spanish star beat Rune 7-6, 6-4 and 6-4.
Alcaraz said it’s always a dream to so well at the grass court Grand Slam, and while Rune is his friend, that all goes out the window on court.
“It’s amazing for me - It’s a dream since I start playing tennis,” said Alcaraz.
“Making good results here in Wimbledon, such a great tournament. I didn’t expect to play such a great level on this surface. For me, it’s crazy.
“It was tough - at the beginning I was really, really nervous playing the quarter-final here in Wimbledon
“Playing against Rune, someone that is the same age as me, someone that is playing at a great level, it was tough to play with him.
“But I said before, once you get on court, there are no friends. You have to be focused on yourself and I think I did great in that part.”
In Wednesday’s other quarter-final, Medvedev beat Christopher Eubanks 6-4, 1-6, 4-6, 7-6 and 6-1.
Alcaraz and Medvedev will face each other on Friday in the semi-finals, while the seven-time champion Novak Djokovic will take on Jannik Sinner of Italy.
